About Shaggy Dog Glass
Shaggy Dog Glass is a vibrant, independent studio based in Hackney, where every piece is imagined, designed and made by hand. My workshop is tucked into my home, shaped by years of experimenting, learning from talented local artisans, and feeding off the creativity that runs through the community around me.
I first discovered glass while working in the NHS, and it quickly became a space where I could relax, explore and recharge. That spark never left. I’m still working with glass every day, and I still feel the same energy and excitement from the material — the way it glows, shifts, surprises, and responds to light and colour.
No two pieces are ever repeated, but many are part of an evolution of ideas — a flow of shapes, colours and techniques that build on one another. I love following where the material leads, letting the colours react, and allowing the process to influence the final form. I’m constantly experimenting, testing new combinations and pushing what the glass can do.
Sustainability is important to me, so I use recycled and reclaimed glass wherever possible, reworking offcuts and keeping the process as low-waste as I can. I also work in printmaking, which gives me another way to explore bold colour, rhythm and composition; those print ideas often flow back into the glasswork, keeping everything fresh and interconnected.

I also run a small sister site, SDG Etcetera, which shares a bit more of the story behind Shaggy Dog Glass, how ideas develop, the personality of the studio, and the playful character of Shaggy Dog himself. It’s also where I post the printmaking side of what I do. The prints have the same colours, rhythms and energy as the glasswork, and you can see more of them there. If you’d like to follow along, you can find me on Instagram at @sdg.etc, where I share regular updates, photos and printmaking pieces.

Shaggy Dog Glass is all about expressive design, bold colour, sustainable making and the excitement of creating something by hand. Every piece reflects the movement of ideas, the versatility of the material, and the life of a studio where everything is made with intention and creative energy.
Our range is as diverse as our creativity:
We're not just passionate about art; we're also committed to our planet. Many of our stained glass pieces incorporate recycled antique glass, giving new life to materials with their own rich history.
